PE
In Year 2, the children have PE on a Thursday morning. The children need to bring their PE kits into school each week to get changed into.
Homework
Homework and spellings are given out on a Friday and are to be returned on the following Wednesday. The children will be given maths or English homework on a rolling rota. Homework for the holidays is always a research-based task on the topic that the children will be studying the next term.
As part of homework, we expect children to be reading to their parents at least five times per week. The children work towards karate reading bands which they collect after twenty reads. The bands are given to reward hard work and frequent reading, not reading ability.

Foundation Subjects
All of the foundation subjects are covered through a topic approach.
These include: history, geography, art, design & technology, ICT, French, religious education, music and drama. A topic lasts for one term and where possible, all subjects are linked to that topic. The foundation subjects are covered each afternoon. These will be clearly shown on your child’s timetable.
SATs
In May, Year 2 pupils take their SATS exams. These are national, statutory tests in which we assess maths, reading, writing and SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar).
