In Year 3, the children have PE on a Tuesday afternoon. The children need to come to school in their PE kits to maximise teaching time.
As part of our homework, we expect the children to read daily at home with their parents and sign their reading record. The children work towards reading karate bands which they collect after twenty reads. The certificates are given to reward hard work and frequent reading, not reading ability. Spellings are also given as a part of homework. The spelling go out on a Tuesday and the test takes place the following Monday. The weekly homework task is linked to one of the curriculum subjects.
All of the foundation subjects are covered through a topic approach. These include: history, geography, art, design & technology, ICT, French, religious education, music and drama. A topic lasts for one term and where possible, all subjects are linked to that topic. The foundation subjects are covered each afternoon. These will be clearly shown on your child’s timetable.
